Grade School Class Lists for School Year 2010 - 2011

10 June 2009

Dear Southridge Grade School Parents,

We hope that your family had a great and restful summer break. In a few days, we will be starting another exciting school year at Southridge. I would like to welcome all of you back to school, especially the new families who have joined us this school year. We are sure that you will be happy that you made the right decision of choosing Southridge to be the school for your children.

Throughout the summer we have been working to prepare for the 2010-2011 school year and I anxiously await the start of school next week. The teachers had a month long training and workshop sessions with subject experts to make sure that the programs, curriculum content and delivery and services for our students improve even more. There are many things that we have to look forward to this school year. Our focus will be on providing each child with new challenges that will result in a rewarding school experience. We have specific goals that we want to achieve this school year which will be communicated to you soon and discussed during your fist level Parents Quarterly Forum. There will be many exciting events and activities planned throughout the school year and we invite you to participate in these activities. We are very proud to say that this school year will be quite an experience for the parents, teachers and students.

We are very fortunate to have wonderful new additions to the Southridge Grade School faculty for school year 2010-2011:

We welcome them to Southridge.

We would like to inform you of the following important details related to the opening of the school year so that your son's first school day will be smooth and worry free.

When is the first day of classes?
The first day of classes for all Primary School (Prep - Grade 3) and Grade 7 pupils is on June 15, Tuesday. The rest of the Grade School will have their first day on June 16, Wednesday.

What time do the children have to be in school?
All pupils will have to be in school at 7:20 a.m.

Where will I bring my son on June 15?
You can bring your son straight to his classroom. A layout of the school building will be posted on the bulletin boards for your quick reference. There will also be student ushers who can assist you in locating the classrooms.

What is the section of my son?
Your son's section is posted on the Southridge website. Please go to www.southridge.edu.ph/infosys_dbase.

What will my son wear on the first day of classes?
Your son has to wear his complete and proper regular school uniform. Please take note that black belt is part of the school uniform. Socks have to be black.

What does my son have to bring to school?
Since the first week is orientation week for the pupils, we advise that students bring a small bag with the following items inside:

Is there recess in the morning? What food items should I prepare for my son?
There is a break time in the middle of the morning. The best food items to prepare for your son are juice, sandwiches, biscuits or rice with viand. Please do not include junk food and softdrinks as part of his snacks. As part of our Clean and Green Campaign we advise you to please have all food items removed from their wrappers and placed in reusable plastic containers to lessen garbage in school.

What is the dismissal time of my son?
On the first week of classes, your son will be dismissed at 12:00 noon. Regular schedule will be followed the week after. Please refer to the class schedule which will be distributed on the first day to check the regular dismissal schedule of your son.

Where will I pick up my son after classes?
We expect to have a higher than usual number of parents who will drop-off and pick-up their children during the first week of school Therefore, we ask that you assist us by following the guidelines listed below.

  1. Drivers are required to use the NPC area road entering the school. Our school security officers will be out directing traffic to assist drivers.
  2. We have designated drop-off points for students in Prep - Grade 3 and for those in Grades 4 - 7. Please drop-off your sons only in these designated drop-off areas.
  3. Students, especially those in Prep - Grade 3 can be picked-up after school at the waiting area.

Class Advisers of students in Prep - Grade 3 will bring the students to the waiting area after the last subject.

Throughout the school year, your child's teacher and I will be making a special effort to stay in touch with you. We will keep you informed of your child's progress and school activities. Look for papers coming home from school each day-letters, invitations, updates, tips, and reminders. We will also be giving every student a copy of the Student Handbook soon. We encourage to read it so that you will be properly informed about school programs, guidelines and policies.

At times during the school year parents may feel they need to speak to the teacher or principal concerning their children and school programs. We always welcome the opportunity to confer with parents and offer our services. If you are concerned about a classroom situation, you should always start with the teacher. The teacher has first-hand knowledge of your child's abilities and classroom behavior as well as the classroom standards and expectations. Please respect the teacher's busy schedule by setting up an appointment ahead of time. If you drop by the classroom unexpectedly, it is very likely that the teacher's afternoon schedule may be full, and he e will be unable to give you the time and attention you deserve.

We view parents as our partners in the educational process and encourage you to become involved in many of the school activities. You will receive from us a copy of the calendar of activities to keep you informed of school events. We would also encourage you to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns during the year. If you have other questions, please do not hesitate to call us up at telephone numbers: 8078080.

Again, we welcome you back to school and wish to assure you that we will do everything to make your son's experience at Southridge rewarding and fulfilling

Thank you very much and see you in SOUTHRIDGE.

Sincerely,

LUIS PRUDENCIO G. SALAMAT
